Cate Elander
Cate Elander is the director of State of the South at MDC, Inc., where she curates storytelling and arts-centered experiences to build partnerships and advance narrative, policy, and systems changes across the region. With extensive experience spanning community engagement, early childhood policy, and philanthropic initiatives, she previously served as Durham County Government's first Early Childhood Coordinator, aligning countywide policies and investments for birth-to-eight systems. She holds a master of arts in urban affairs and public policy with a specialization in community development from the University of Delaware and a bachelor of arts in American studies with a minor in creative writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
