David Banner was awarded with the Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes humanitarian award at the annual HOT 107.9 Birthday Bash in Atlanta this past Saturday (June 17).

More than 20,000 people who turned up at the event ,witnessed the Mississippi bred rapper get honored for the contributions he made via his “Heal the Hood” foundation and concert, which raised $500,000 last year for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Read this and thought it deserved a post. It is good to see one of Mississippi’s own giving back from the heart and it being recognized everywhere. Way to go, Banner!


David Banner will also be in Florida this week as co-host to the Ozone Awards that will be held this weekend. He is nominated for three awards himself. Kamikaze, along with other hiphop artists from our state, or nominated for an award as well.
