LGBTQI support group
The local LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Queer, Intersex) support group meets the second Monday of each month. The group offers a safe place for family and friends of the LGBTQI community to share their feelings and stories and learn how to become a better friend or relative. Fight the Hunger
Hattiesburg restaurateur Robert St. John started Extra Table as a way to feed needy families in the state. Local restaurants BRAVO! Italian Restaurant and Bar (4500 Interstate 55 N., Suite 244, 601-982-8111), Sal & Mookie’s (565 Taylor St., 601-368-1919) and Broad Street Bakery (4465 N. Highway 55, Suite 101, 601-362-2900) are participating in the nonprofit by allowing their patrons to donate an amount on their receipts. The money goes to purchasing food at the lowest price point possible to stock food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the state.
