JACKSON (AP) — Jackson police say a 1-year-old girl has died after being shot in the head.

Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green says the shooting also injured an elderly woman, but it’s not clear if they were hit in a drive-by shooting or some other type of confrontation. The woman’s injuries are not considered life threatening.

Green says the identities of the child and woman have not been released. It’s not clear if they are related.

She says police were called to a house at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday. The child was taken to a hospital, but died from her injuries.

Green says there have been no arrests in the case.
