All, I’m proud to announce that the Youth Media Project–YMP–is now live at http://www.youthmediaproject.com! This is a new youth-oriented Web site and blog developed by Jackson-area teenagers from public and private schools, working together to be the media themselves. We are working with the William Winter Institute, the Mississippi Youth Justice Project, the Jackson Area High School Press Association (JAHSPA) and lots of volunteers to get it off the ground. The teens are blogging and producing short videos (with help from our college interns and local teachers and filmmakers). The first video should go up next week!

If you know any teenagers who would like to get involved this summer or fall, please tell them to get in touch with me at 601.362.6121 ext. 16 or by e-mailing [e-mail missing]. If you’d like to help in some way, please let us know. (We can use donated snacks and a couple more decent chairs!)

Meantime, click over there and leave some comments so the teens know that someone is reading their work. (If you’re registered on the JFP site, you can comment there as well.) Enjoy!

I don’t know why this says I’m “Kaze,” all. Sorry.
