I found out about this Web site called http://www.joshhosler.biz/ where you can find out which song was at the top of the charts at any time in history – as far back as the 1890’s. I decided to look up the number one hit on my birthday, and the song was…
Yep, “Cat’s in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin. Fascinating.
In contrast, I decided to do my late grandfather’s birthday since we shared the same birthday. The results? “Let’s Take an Old-Fashioned Walk” by Ada Jones & Billy Murray. I’ve never heard of this song in my life, so I looked it up. Listen to it here. Wow. Then, just for kicks, I looked up the number one song on my most recent birthday which was just a few months ago, and it turned out to be “Single Ladies” by Beyonce. What a contrast!
Look up your birthday and tell me what you came up with.

I can’t see the website at work, but if I remember correctly, “Rock Me Baby” was #1 on mine.

Is it just me, or do these songs seem to match everyone’s personality? 😛

If that’s the case, L.W., I’ll let this one speak for itself: “The Wayward Wind” by Gogi Grant.

Is it just me, or do these songs seem to match everyone’s personality? 😛 I’m trying to feel you on this one, but I just don’t see Maggie May as all that “me.” That said, the charts say that “Reason to Believe” was also a number one that year (I’m guessing its the flip side of a single or something?)…and that doesn’t feel like it fits either. 😉

Mine sucks. “Honey” by Bobby Goldsboro. Just listened to it. It is kind of a downer, huh? Well, maybe this YouTube vid will make you feel better about it.

I got a chance to view the website and the #1 song on my birthday is “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” from Bachman Turner Overdrive, which is one of my favorite 70s songs. “Whatever You Like” from T.I. was the most recent #1 on my birthday.

“The House of the Rising Sun” by the Animals. Dang…what a great song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg7jzi9JAkw Very bluesy and deep. Sounds like it would be playing in a movie scene where someone’s getting murdered and you can’t hear what the actors are saying.

“You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” I like that song, too. I heard it in a commercial for a car or Swiffer or something. 😛 Todd, I would like to know what song you think “fits” you. Do tell. 🙂

L.W., You might want to watch the movie “Casino” sometime. At the end of the movie when everyone is getting wacked, “The House of the Rising Sun” is playing. Great movie. Great song.

Mine is “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder. 😀 One of my favorites!! I like to think I came into the world bobbing my head to the funky music. The BF’s birthday song is “My Girl,” which probably doesn’t exactly fit him since he is a boy, but I think it’s a sweet song anyway.

When looking up other songs that were #1 on my birthday, I saw some cool ones like “Gold Digger” from Kanye West and “Rockin’ Me” from the Steve Miller Band. Then there were crappy ones, like “You Light Up My Life” by Debby Boone.
#144686 | Author: golden eagle | Date: Mar 13 2009
That one is unfortunate, Graywalker. Loved Lady’s and Izzy’s, though. And Andi’s. 😉 No one beats my Ray Charles, though–my theme song for dealing with jerk!

In 3rd grade my school principal played “You Light Up My Life” on the intercom! I wanted to feel her vibe but it was just plain strange!

Mine is extremely funny, because I wanted to be an “old maid schoolteacher” when I grew up. Getting married didn’t even cross my mind until I met IG.
