College basketball, Mississippi State at Arkansas, Ch. 12 and WJDX (620), 4:30 p.m.: The Bulldogs begin a run of four consecutive TV games with a place that’s been nothing but trouble for the Maroons. … Also, Belhaven at Tougaloo, 7:30 p.m. 90.1 FM: Fondren’s favorite Presbyterian college visits its intracity rival.

College baseball, Rhodes at Millsaps, 1 p.m.: Fondren’s favorite Methodist college hosts its archrival.

College baseball, Mississippi College at Millsaps, 2 p.m.: The battle for the Maloney Trophy continues. Also, Delta State at Belhaven, 2 p.m.: The Blazers play host to Division II’s top program.

College basketball, Houston at Southern Miss, 7 p.m., WSFZ (930): The Golden Eagles still have a shot (granted, a really long shot) at an NIT bid … and saving coach James Green’s job.

College baseball, Birmingham Southern at Ole Miss, 3 p.m., and Northwestern State at Southern Miss, 3 p.m.: The Rebels and Eagles open their seasons with high hopes.

College basketball, Alabama at Mississippi State, 3 p.m., Ch. 12 and WJDX (620): The nation will be watching as the Bulldogs try to put the finishing touches on their SEC West title. … Also, William Carey at Belhaven, 7:30 p.m.: It’s round 2 of the holy war. Carey’s Jaeson Maravich is worth the price of admission.

College basketball, Southwestern at Millsaps, noon: Get out of the house for once and go watch the Sappers play at the Hangar. And stick around for the women’s game that starts at 2.

College basketball, LSU at Mississippi State, 7 p.m., Ch. 12 and WJDX (620): Tigers coach John “Shady” Brady returns to the town where he worked for so long.

Mississippi native Donna Ladd and partner Todd Stauffer founded the Jackson Free Press in 2002 in the capital city. In 2022, the nonprofit Mississippi Free Press, founded by Ladd and JFP Associate Publisher Kimberly Griffin in 2020, purchased the journalism assets and archives of the Jackson Free Press. A Google grant through AAN Publishers enabled Newspack's integration of the JFP archives into the Mississippi Free Press website to become part of a more searchable archive of recent Mississippi history and essential journalism.
