—Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann on awards his office received for informational TV ads for the state’s new Voter ID law, which takes effect in June.
Why it stinks: Regardless of Hosemann’s views and opinions, there are plenty of citizens and civil-rights groups that still fear that voter ID will disproportionately affect minorities, poor people, college students and senior citizens. But with the U.S. Supreme Court clearing the way for its implementation, there’s little they can do it about. Such groups are busy doing a lot of public outreach of their own in preparation for the new law, but they are doing so with a heavy heart.

The Mississippi Voter ID law is perhaps the most liberal voter ID law passed by the Republicans in the country. Geez, roll with it! If you can’t find a way around or through it to get a valid ID card for those voters you want to help before the next election, I feel truly sad that your mental faculties are not up to it.

I’m sure you would see the same people crying over voter ID supporting Illegal immigrants rights to obtaining ID’s. Everyone doesn’t need identification, except illegals.

I can’t imagine that “illegals” are coming here to vote, but to work and gain money. As a matter of fact, the MS Voter ID law is so broad that I could see a clever “illegal” gaining a voter ID card under it. I laugh when I hear how safe we are in America after 9-11, especially when that information is placed side by side with the information that “illegals” have been found working for the Federal Government and in supposedly “secure places, areas, and facilities.”
