Development Director
Cedric Grizzell is a strategic, relationship-driven fundraising and business development professional who serves as Development Director at Mississippi Free Press. With a strong foundation in marketing from Mississippi College and a background spanning nonprofit development, fundraising and corporate support, Cedric brings a results-oriented approach to building meaningful partnerships that advance mission-driven journalism and long-term sustainability.
At Mississippi Free Press, Cedric leads major gifts strategy, cultivates donor and corporate partnerships, and supports grant development initiatives that expand the newsroom’s reach and impact across the state. His work focuses on strengthening the organization’s revenue systems and building a culture of philanthropy that ensures independent, community-centered journalism continues to thrive in Mississippi.
Cedric previously strengthened his development experience through leadership involvement with Mississippi Public Broadcasting, a PBS and NPR affiliate, where he contributed to fundraising and partnership efforts that connected public media with communities, donors and corporate sponsors statewide. He has successfully managed donor portfolios and enhanced development systems, demonstrating his ability to set ambitious goals and execute strategic fundraising plans that deliver measurable growth.
In addition to his nonprofit experience, Cedric brings a strong background in consultative sales and sales development within the retail sector. His work with for-profit media organizations, including WLBT 3, The Clarion-Ledger and WJTV 12, sharpened his skills in client relationship management, needs assessment and revenue generation—expertise that translates seamlessly into philanthropy and corporate engagement.
