Abbi Roark

Executive Assistant Abbi Roark has recently joined the Mississippi Free Press, aiming to streamline the organization’s day-to-day operations and promote effective communication, both internally and externally. Abbi previously served as the primary in-office employee for the Mississippi Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors while earning a Bachelor of University Studies degree from Mississippi State University.

Abbi was born and raised in Mississippi and initially planned to leave the state to begin her career. However, she developed a deeper appreciation for Mississippi’s diverse geography, history, culture, and community. By supporting solution-oriented journalism and the Mississippi Free Press team, she conveys the resilience and beauty of her home state while still advocating for progress and accountability.

Abbi grew up in rural Tallahatchie County and now lives in Canton, Mississippi, with her fiancé, four dogs, a cat, and a bearded dragon. She spends most of her free time adventuring outdoors or relaxing with her animals.
