Whatās up, Jackson? I want to update you on a few develops on albums from some of your favorite Jacktown artists. With all the excitement going on surrounding Jubilee! Jam I decided to kick back, relax and wait for all these hot records to be released. Letās start off with a video shoot that should be going on in Clarksdale. You might remember my mentioning the group Hollow Point Disciples who are signed to Sony Music Entertainment. The group is reportedly planning an elaborate video shoot in their hometown, and some of Jacksonās finest are planning on making cameos. More soon.
Another important point is the impending release of Smoke Dās album āHeaven Or Hell.ā Over the last few weeks, rumors have been swirling about who would be releasing this project. Right now everything seems to be up in the air but keep your eyes on this situation to see what major label strikes a deal for the UGK vet.
Illa Bob Cain reportedly is putting the final touches on his new album āDisco Slave Music.ā Donāt front; despite the title, the project is shaping up to be solid hip-hop, offering an interesting introspective that slightly differs from the Jackson norm.
Another long-awaited project is Donnie āDecadeā Crossā āSoundtrack To My Soul.ā I have heard several cuts, and I have two words for youāaggressive and musical. Donnie is also slated to do a remix of Trick Daddyās hit single āIām a Thugā for DJ B-Lordās āBest of Trick Daddyā mix tape, which is slated for release in mid July.
Hood veterans Exit Only and Meltdown have reportedly decided to collaborate on a new underground project entitled āFrom Ozs 2 Lbs.ā This album is strictly for the streets, so expect to see this project only in your favorite underground spots. Even if you arenāt a true fan of that real ghetto music, you may want to get this as a collectorās item.
Also, by the time you read this, Vibe will have shot a 10-page fashion photo spread in Jackson. Appearing later this year, it features local models wearing the latest apparel.
Last column I reported that Reese & Bigalow are in the process of recording their as-yet-untitled fourth studio album. The duo has a new artist on their Mo Bigga Ent labelāTreal. From everything Iāve heard, the boy is super tight. He is in the studio right now recording his debut album entitled āTrealogy.ā
Also, Trigger the Hun and China Boy have a new single that should be impacting radio soon. So listen intently, and you might hear it pop up on your favorite station.
