They follow the rules of the road, they stop at all stoplights, and they do their best to create a respectful atmosphere between cyclists and motorists. The Jackson Bike Advocates are ready to take another community bike ride. “It is an opportunity for the two to see each other in a positive light, learn and interact.” Melody Moody, president of Jackson Bike Advocates board, said.
On Friday, Dec. 30, the group takes its monthly Community Bike Ride. The ride begins at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Rainbow Whole Foods (2807 Old Canton Road) and returns there at 7:30 p.m.
The ride is the last Friday of each month, always beginning in the Rainbow parking lot. The destination differs every month but typically takes riders through Belhaven and the midtown area, then back to Fondren. Participants then often head to Sal and Mookie’s (565 Taylor St.) for drinks and food.
Moody says the goal of the ride is to improve relations between motorists and cyclists.
