Looks like the Mayor Melton era ends today.

So, Does this mean no one represents the Police Department? If Jimerson is the Interim Director of Parks & Rec, then why does JPD not have an Interim Chief? Personel is also listed with an Interim Director.

Razor, is Tyrone Lewis the permanent chief or the acting chief? I thought he was a permanent appointment. Dos anyone think that Frank Bluntson will be acting mayor again?

L.W.–Tyrone Lewis is Interim Police Chief. The city council decided not to vote him in as Chief, being that the election process was approaching. No I don’t think Bluntson will be acting mayor, maybe Walker or McLemore.

Looks like McLemore is the acting Mayor. Lewis is not a permanent appointment. Permanent appointments require a council vote. Melton put Bluntson in place last time, I believe, which is not how it’s supposed to be done. According to the Mississippi Code, council should appoint a temporary mayor when the mayor is disabled.

Thanks for the clarification. So much has gone on that it’s hard for me to keep all this stuff straight sometimes.
