The Honorable Mayor Chokwe Lumumba will lie in state at City Hall on Friday, March 7, 2014.

Beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m., City Hall will open to the public. Public entry will begin on the East side of City Hall (Facing President Street).

Visitors are encouraged to follow these guidelines:

No Purses, Bags, or Backpacks•

• No Photographs or Videos

• No Food or Drinks

A funeral procession will leave the Jackson Convention Center located at 105 E. Pascagoula Street in Jackson, Mississippi directly following the Celebration of Life Service which will begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at approximately 2:30 p.m. The procession will begin at Pascagoula Street at Lamar and conclude at Northside Drive at College Hill.

The citizens of Jackson can gather along the route.

The Honorable Chokwe Lumumba, Mayor of the City of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Mayor Lumumba was a beloved father, human rights activist, visionary, and leader of the great City of Jackson, Mississippi. He devoted his entire life to serving others through his vision of unity – “One City, One Aim, One Destiny.” He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the citizens of Jackson.
