When it comes to health and your body’s energy balance, not all calories are equal. Some studies have reported that diets that are high-protein, low-carbohydrate or a combination of the two do yield greater weight loss than diets with other levels of fat, protein and carbs. Terezie Tolar-Peterson
Dr. Terezie Tolar-Peterson is a specialist in human nutrition with national and international experience. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Public Health from the 3rd Medical School of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Her Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition and Doctorate in Adult Education and Leadership were obtained from The University of Memphis. Dr. Tolar-Peterson has a broad working experience that includes clinical experience, teaching, research and community work. In 2015, she joined Mississippi State University as Dietetic Internship Director and Professor of Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion. Her research interest is in global health and personalized nutrition, especially in how genetic factors, together with environmental factors, can predispose us for health or disease. Dr. Tolar-Peterson is also a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
