Hailing from Columbia, Mikel is the Executive Director of the Mississippi Democratic Party and a proud graduate of Tougaloo College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science. She also holds a master’s in criminology and justice services from Jackson State University. Her passion for grassroots organizing is not just a job but a calling that inspires and motivates others. Mikel is a proud member of the Jackson alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. Mikel is also a two-time self-published author and the proud founder of The Humble Change, Inc., an organization dedicated to ensuring youth have full support and opportunities as they continue on their journeys either as students or aspiring entrepreneurs.
