Christian minister Jason Coker, a native of Shaw, Miss., is looking for other white religious leaders to break their silence and stand up against House Bill 1020 and the revised Capital City Improvement District. “Stand with me and ask our elected officials to pass policy that creates a better future for all Mississippians,” he writes.

Jason Coker, a native of Shaw, Miss., felt a call to ministry while a student at Mississippi Delta Community College. He graduated from William Carey University with a degree in religion and went to seminary at Yale Divinity School. Coker serves as the president of Together For Hope, a rural development coalition that seeks to alleviate persistent rural poverty in the United States.
