Mississippi Gulf Coast attorney Hugh Keating has won the mayoral election in Gulfport, Mississippi, keeping the state’s second-largest city under Republican control, Tuesday night’s election results show. He narrowly defeated Democratic candidate Sonya Williams-Barnes, who would have been the first Democratic mayor elected since 1985.
