Harrison County counted 1,448 affidavit ballots from Tuesday’s election at a public meeting earlier today, District 3 Election Commissioner Jennifer Smith told the Mississippi Free Press. The Harrison County Election Commission will host a public meeting on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at the election commission building at 2600 24th Ave, Gulfport, Mississippi, and will determine at that time which affidavit ballots to accept and reject.

In order to regain a lead, U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith likely needs to begin making gains with affidavit ballots. But she only leads Colom in Harrison County by 50.4%-46.7%, meaning if she made any gains in Harrison County’s affidavit ballots, they would likely be minimal. She currently trails Colom by 1,936 votes.
