A memorial service for Jackson’s late mayor will be held at noon Tuesday at Thalia Mara Hall in downtown Jackson.

Melton, who died Thursday morning at age 60, will lie in repose in City Hall today from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Congress Street from Pearl to Pascagoula streets will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The family is taking Melton’s body to Houston for burial. In lieu of flowers, they are requesting donations be made to the Farish Street YMCA.
