Conor Heffernan is an assistant professor of Physical Culture and Sport Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on the rise of health and body cultures in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century with reference to gymnasiums, physical education and military training. Heffernan recently begun to examine the changing nature of athletic diets in the twentieth-century.
