JACKSON, Miss. โ€” Jackson civil rights leader Charles Tisdale is in critical condition and on life support at a local hospital, officials confirmed Monday.

The 80-year-old Tisdale is a radio talk show personality, community activist and the owner and publisher of the Jackson Advocate.

My prayers go out to Tisdale and his family.

I heard about this on WAPT as well. My prayers go out to him and his family, too. About a month or so ago, he did his Friday night show on WMPR. He didn’t sound too well then, but I thought he would pull through it and be back on the air. Let’s hope for miracle.


He’s gone.Charles Tisdale, the publisher of the Jackson Advocate and a civil rights advocate, died this evening after being taken off life support. Tisdale was removed from life support at about 8:20 p.m. Safe journey, Mr. Tisdale: and thank you.


RIP, Mr. Tisdale. I may not have agreed with everything you said, but you were good at what you did.


My condolences to the Tisdale family and the Jackson Advocate.

To Alice Tisdale I share with you and your family the loss of a Great Man, Charles Tisdale I met Mr. Tisdale almost 20 years ago through my sister Bernetta Smith-James,I worked for him in a nonpaid position and you know, I was not concerned about money when I was getting for free,because he allowed me ,information and education that would assist me in a lot of my decision making moments I also know that because of the sage advice that he bestowed uppn my Brother in law Mr.Eddie James,it has allowed him and his wife to be WARRIORS for The Cause of Our People Respectfully Rev.Earnette A.
