W. Ralph Eubanks writes that the history that Gov. Reeves proposes to spend $3 million to teach to Mississippi schoolchildren is nothing but mythology, and not even a story about America that can be thought of as real history.
The University of Mississippi Faculty Senate passed two resolutions in a show of support for embattled sociologist and UM professor James Thomas. It calls on Chancellor Glenn Boyce and all administration to respond to State of Mississippi’s attacks on academic freedom and Thomas personally.
Members of the University of Mississippi faculty fear the school’s effort to root out whistleblowers who exposed issues of racism in the administration could also expose private information about employees and graduate students who have confided concerns to the university ombudsman.
Scientists have shown that racial and ethnic minorities are more likely than white people to catch, be hospitalized because of and ultimately die from the virus. In explaining these findings, researchers often point to patterns within society that advantage white people over racial and ethnic minorities. These patterns reflect systemic racism or institutional racism.

He and host Paul Gallo criticized attorney Rob McDuff’s legal argument, but did not say what it is—that the existing state law against teachers strikes pointedly does not apply to James Thomas’ actions.
An interracial group of women and men founded the group that would soon become known as the NAACP in 1909. A coalition of white journalists, lawyers and progressive reformers led the effort. It would take another 11 years until, in 1920, James Weldon Johnson became the first Black person to formally serve as its top official.
Fox News is not the only source of racial division in America, nor is it the only influence on the racial views of white evangelicals. But with its millions of daily viewers, droves of whom are white evangelicals, Fox news is broadcasting a narrative about race that exerts a massive cultural influence.
