The Magnolia State will experience “dangerously high temperatures” statewide today and through the end of the week, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency warned this morning.
“Some areas could go into the teens, maybe even the single digits. And not only that—we’re expecting very dangerous wind chills as well, enough to bring us down to negative temperatures. It’s very scary,” said MEMA Chief Communications Officer Malary White said on Dec. 21, 2022.
Federal forecasters say Tropical Storm Ida will rapidly strengthen and strike the Gulf Coast as a powerful category 3 hurricane on Sunday, Aug. 29, bringing with it the possibility of life-threatening wind, tornadoes, flooding, and storm surge throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
Mississippians living in low-lying areas along the Gulf Coast must evacuate today as Hurricane Sally approaches. Weather experts predict that the area could see a storm surge as high as 11 feet.
