A grand jury declined to pursue criminal charges against Indianola Police Officer Greg Capers for shooting 11-year-old Aderrien Murry.
Kelvin Franklin, a 33-year-old U.S. Army staff sergeant from Sunflower County, Miss., is alleging in a federal lawsuit that he was handcuffed when an Indianola Police officer pointed a gun at him, tased him repeatedly and choked him in December 2022.
Aderrien Murry, an 11-year-old boy, is recovering after an Indianola Police officer shot him in the chest. The boy had called 911 to report a domestic disturbance involving a sibling’s father in the early hours of Saturday, May 20, before the officer responded.
