“We are celebrating the start of 22 years of Free Press journalism that began Sept. 22, 2002, at the Jackson Free Press, the predecessor of our newsroom and our ongoing strategy to uncover and inspire solutions for the state and the nation with a county-by-county approach,” Kimberly Griffin writes.
Deputy Editor Azia Wiggins expresses her thoughts on being a leader and the necessity of difficulty along the journey. “In the trenches is where leaders can show themselves approved simply because you didn’t shy away from the fight. That fight, that uncomfortability as you grow to deal with devils on new levels, is the foundation of excellence,” she writes.
“Our team, particularly our editorial team, is a prophetic voice for these difficult times. So we can’t give up, and we won’t give up because you deserve ethical media that yes, focuses on systemic issues, but also offers the hope through the solutions we uncover through our work,” Publisher and Co-founder Kimberly Griffin writes.

Jackson Public Schools Office of Innovative Strategy Executive Director Samecia Stokes described Amia Edwards’ after-school program as unique, necessary and vital to helping students develop and hone their voices and agency.
After Biloxi Little Theatre’s production of “Barefoot in the Park” concludes on May 22, 2022, the community theater will still put on a children’s show, a teen show and a musical revue through the summer.
