The Mississippi House passed Senate Bill 2212, which will grant 12 months of postpartum Medicaid coverage, by a 92-7 vote. Republican House Speaker Philip Gunn of Clinton voted against it.
New Mississippi mothers who cannot afford health insurance could continue receiving Medicaid for a year post-birth after Mississippi House lawmakers advanced a bill this morning that would extend coverage beyond the state’s current two-month limit.
