How 18 Million Americans Could Move Into Rural Areas Without Leaving Home

Changing how rural areas are defined could change Americans’ understanding of rural life. For instance, the current data reveal that rural areas have less access to broadband internet and health care services.
But if the homes and communities of 18 million more Americans are added to those rural statistics, the numbers could look better. That rosier picture—which would not be the result of any actual changes to Americans’ lives—could reduce public and political pressure to improve life in rural communities.

To shine light on why students cheat, we conducted an analysis of 79 research studies and published our findings in the journal Educational Psychology Review. We determined that a variety of motivational factors, ranging from a desire for good grades to a student’s academic confidence, come into play when explaining why students cheat.

Mississippi and Texas Dropped COVID-19 Mask Mandates, but Urge People to Still Wear Them

The governors of Texas and Mississippi announced that they were rescinding their statewide mask mandates and allowing restaurants and other businesses to return to 100% capacity in early March. The moves come while new infection numbers in the U.S. are still higher than they were in September and just ahead of school spring breaks, known for large gatherings and crowded bars where the coronavirus can quickly spread.
