An elementary school in Madison County, Mississippi, is closed for the second day in a row after receiving bomb threats.
The Madison Station Elementary School PTO posted a message at approximately 7 a.m. that the school was not receiving students on campus. The message said that parents would be kept informed of school arrival times. WAPT News reported that the Madison School official, Rick Negron, verified that the school received a second bomb threat before classes began this morning and that the school would remain closed out of an abundance of caution.
Madison Station Elementary School evacuated students a day earlier on Feb. 4 after someone called in a threat to the school. A statement released by the Madison County School District announced that students were relocated to Ridgecrest Church and parents or emergency contacts were asked to pick up students from that location.
Ridgecrest, which operates a preschool, was also closed Thursday, Feb. 5.
On Feb. 4, the Madison Police Department reported that law enforcement had determined there was no credible threat following the investigation. The district later announced that although the campus had been cleared, the school would remain closed for the remainder of Feb. 4.
The school initially posted on Facebook yesterday that it would be ready to receive students today before this morning’s reversal.
“Our home is secure. Our home is full of faith. Our home is full of love,” yesterday’s post read. “We can’t wait to have our precious children back home tomorrow.”
This is a developing story.
