Michael Dozier joined the Mississippi Journalism and Education Group as the executive chairman of the board of directors in August 2022. His professional expertise consists of serving as a former president and CEO of several community-based nonprofits throughout Mississippi. He has managed more than 287 employees and has managed budgets of over $14 million per year.
Michael is the principal and founder of Carrington, Holland & Leigh Consulting Firm, which provides nonprofit development and fund development services for nonprofits, faith and community-based organizations. He has previously worked in state government as a project grant administrator and currently serves as a workshop facilitator and presenter in grant writing, fundraising, board development, strategic planning and nonprofit start-up, including for the Mississippi Alliance for Nonprofits and Philanthropy.Â
He is a Certified Grant Reviewer & Writer and was selected in 2005 by the Mississippi Business Journal as Outstanding Nonprofit CEO. Michael currently serves as a federal grant reviewer for the federal government.
Michael’s nonprofit specialties include: fundraising and donor development, including major gift solicitation and peer-to-peer fundraising; establishing and running effective nonprofit boards; board and fund development; legal nonprofit compliance; and effective best practices for nonprofits.
