Local businesses along Farish Street have allowed the Mississippi Museum of Art to install art displays relaying words of wisdom to help guide readers through life lessons.
Starting Wednesday, March 23, 118 films will celebrate the diversity of the art form, the compelling stories it can share, connections it can make and provocative conversations it can spark at the Oxford Film Festival.
Austin Hohnke and Mark G. Henderson star in New Stage Theatre’s production of “I Just Stopped by to See the Man” as English rocker Karl and blues musician Jesse “The Man” Davidson, respectively. It runs Feb. 2-13, 2022.
These centennial tributes aim to showcase the range of Andrew Bucci’s art, who started creating in the mid-to-late 1930s and continued through the 2000s, learning something new every decade—always evolving, always creating. The History Is Lunch program on Jan. 12 is free and open to the public; it will be livestreamed as well on the Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s Facebook page, and posted on the department’s YouTube channel. The “Emerging Grace” exhibit runs through March 12 at the Winter Building and is open to the public on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Adventures in the Imagination: Chuck Galey,” a new exhibition available at The Music + Arts Experience in Meridian through March 12, puts a retrospective of the Jackson illustrator’s artwork on display.
