Dr. Joshua A. Cable Day Honors Hinds County Farmers for Community Service

Joshua Cable owns and operates Kingdom Cities Network, a business-focused ministry, alongside his wife, Monica Cable. After receiving Mayor Lumumba’s signed proclamation on Feb. 1, 2020, Cable has annually used the honor to spotlight members of the Jackson metro community and their own contributions to lifting up those around them. This year, Cable partnered with the Best of Mississippi awards to present certificates of honor to local farmers: D.J. Baker, owner of Esculent and a food consultant for public and private food businesses and edible-landscaping projects; Foot Print Farms President and Chief Executive Officer Cindy Ayers Elliott; and Chris and Caroline Ratliff, owners of Ratliff’s IronHorse Ranch in Raymond, Miss.

ABC Winterfest Remix, Fans Lead Anime Convention in Southaven

Santirojprapai and the rest of the Memphis-based Anime Blues Con team are preparing to bring a taste of their beloved genre to Southaven, Miss., through ABC Winterfest Remix, a one-day convention that promises to pack all of the sights and experiences of a three-day anime convention into one. The event is on Saturday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to  6 p.m. at the Landers Center (4560 Venture Drive, Southaven) and will feature cosplay contests, a video game marketplace, exhibits, panels, gaming stations and more.

Venture into the Past: Jurassic Quest Comes to Jackson

Jurassic Quest, billed as one of the largest and most realistic dinosaur exhibits in North America, is coming to the Jackson Convention Complex from Friday, Oct. 22, through Sunday, Oct. 24. The edutainment event features 100 life-size animatronic dinosaur models, dinosaur-themed rides, interactive science and art activities and informational shows from Jurassic Quest’s team of “dinosaur trainers” covering prehistoric life and fossils from around the country.
