JACKSON — Jackson Public Schools will adopt an abstinence-plus sex-education program for the 2012-2013 school year, JPS Superintendent Cedrick Gray and board President Monica Gilmore-Love confirmed today.
A June 19 document from the board about its sex-education program decision states: “Every student has the right to accurate information concerning the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. The board is committed to fostering community partnerships that educate both students and parents about this important topic.”
The JPS district is officially closed for the Independence Day holiday week. Reached by phone, Gray did not have access to an official statement.
